About Us

Over 150 years of heritage on the River Thames

Built-in 1870, the club was the first purpose-built venue on the Putney Embankment and one of the first in London. It has been the home of London Rowing Club ever since and over the years, we have welcomed and produced numerous World and Olympic champions.

The club has seen numerous developments to house the growing membership and needs of the building. In 2019, the Peter Coni Gym opened providing a state-of-the-art gym and equipment to help ensure present and future athlete achieve their best. Throughout 2022, we have invested in the internal rooms of the boathouse to create a fresh and light atmosphere that beautifully reflects the Victorian heritage of the building. The walls of London Rowing Club, showcase over 150 years of rowing excellence providing a unique backdrop for your event.

As a nod to the Olympic success of the London Rowing Club, we are fortunate to be custodians of a piece of Team GB history - the gold medal-winning coxless four boat from the 1939 Berlin games. At the front of the boathouse, we have the balcony, offering views across the River Thames. This is the perfect spot to spend summer nights watching crews training along the river.

With so much unique history and charm, London Rowing Club is the ideal riverside wedding venue or setting for your next corporate event, conference or special occasion.
